Duke of Edinburgh Photography Zoom Courses
Learn to take superb photographs whilst meeting the eligibility requirements of the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver skills. By the end of this Zoom based course, participants will have learned the secrets of composition, the features of a DSLR camera, creative inspiration and built a awesome portfolio.

We offer a number of other DofE Skills course options: On-demand online, In-Person and Smartphone online. We understand our students have different requirements therefore with our other options there is a DofE photography course for everyone. With over 2000 students already successfully completed our DofE photography courses, you know this is an online photography course you can trust
DofE Online Zoom+
We understand the importance of ‘interactive meeting’ to help understand & develop photographic skills. We have therefore incorporated three live webinars into our program. These will be limited to 17 students; therefore everyone will have the opportunity to fully participate and learn both from the teacher and each other.
The Zoom+ DofE photography course includes:
- The course contains 3 live interactive zoom workshops, each 1.5hrs long. Held monthly over the 3-mth course and the students are expected to practice their skill assignments and build their portfolio. (17 students max)
- 12 online weekly downloadable lesson modules with tutorial videos and assignments that open weekly.
- Students will receive a personal login where they can access the online course. They will also have access to loads of other resources including camera mechanics guide, inspirational photographs and further info about famous photographers.
- A “members only” Sharp Shots DofE Facebook group, where students can share their work, receive feedback from their tutor & great inspiration from fellow students!
- Sharp Shots will assess the student’s photography throughout and give on-going guidance through the facebook group and email.
- End of course assessment, DofE skills reporting and sign off.

The skills taught in our online DofE photography courses will be:
- Learning how to use a DSLR or Bridge camera, and become proficient in its functions
- Learning how to compose great photos with different composition techniques
- Learn how to use light creatively, working in natural and artificial light
- Build up a portfolio of a chosen themes, such as wildlife, or portrait photography.
- Learning how to re-touch digital images (using photo editing applications) including cropping, adding effects and adjusting colour
- Helping recognise great images and enter competitions
DofE Zoom+ and Online Workshops Info:
- Register on the Sharp Shots DofE web Photography course
- Receive an online login to view the course material, assignments and webinar links
- Register for the webinar & download ‘Zoom’ app onto your computer or tablet *
- Enter webinar workshop at scheduled time.
* advisable not to use smart phones for the Zoom meetings as functionality not perfect and restricted viewing
- The DofE online photography courses run every term throughout the year.
- The fee for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Online Photography Skills course is £99.
- Looking to do 6 months of photo skills? We offer 3 month “follow on” photography skills courses after you’ve completed your first DofE course with us.
- Camera rental is £75 for the 3 month course. We also require a £100 deposit which will be repaid on undamaged return. Postage will be extra (Approx. £15). Please contact us at info@sharpshotsphotoclub.co.uk to enquire.
- We can provide a one to one 30 min evening substitute webinar for £30
- We can provide a recording of the webinar plus extra message based correspondence for £15.
- We can provide an option to transfer to another webinar if available and numbers allow. This is at Sharp Shots discretion, and will incur a £15 adm
Yes you can!
Our members only Facebook group for the DofE skills course is full of students interacting, making new friends and gaining their feedback. We have many students photography work that can be browsed for inspiration!
- Regular tutor feedback is only given on the DofE Zoom+ courses
- Occasional feedback is given on DofE on-demand & Smartphone course if the tutor feels the weekly photos provided need guidance.
- Sharp Shots are more than happy to provide support – DofE photography support will be given by emailing dofe@sharpshotsphotoclub.co.uk . Support or questions are unlikley to be answered through any other channel including social media (Facebook messaging, Instagram, etc) or any other Sharp Shots email address
- In short, yes you do. Sharp Shots have created this course so that it’s super easy for you to adhere to the mandatory DofE requirements –
- Online DofE students need to use the Facebook members only group to show their work to the tutor
- The tutor will assess and ‘like’ the page to show that the photos have been assessed for that week.
Sharp Shots have created a seamless assessment process for your DofE Skills course, keep your photo posting up to date and follow the course assignments and we’ll take care of the final assessment –
- The final DofE assessment is made at the end of the 12 week course.
- Sharp Shots will carry out the assessment and file with the DofE direct as we are an Approved Activity Provider.
- We require each online DofE student to send in 24 photos (2 for each weekly assignment) via WeTransfer
- Wetransfer instructions are given within the online course.
- Sharp Shots can only accept the photographs via Wetransfer.
