Black and White Photography

Venue: Richmond Hill Hotel

Our students will learn how to take great black and white photographs in camera capturing the beautiful landscapes of Richmond park and the Thames River. We will look at famous photographers work such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Mark Power and Vivien Maier for inspiration. Aperture and shutter speed will be explained and we’ll head outdoors together to capture serene black and white images together. Our students will learn how to take a well composed, interesting photograph using aperture and shutter speed creatively and have a great portfolio of images at the end.

Nature & Wildlife

Learn how to capture birds in mid flight, and take sharp images of the beautiful bucks in Richmond Park on today’s course. Our students will learn how their cameras work, using aperture to make their bug and flower images pop and shutter speed to stop the action of Richmond’s amazing wildlife. We’ll spend the majority of the day outside photographing the nature and wildlife in Richmond park and then along the Thames.

Photographing in Richmond Park

Today’s class is focused on capturing the essence of Richmond Park. Our students will learn how to use focus & aperture creatively, in order to capture great landscape views of the park along with close up textures of the trees, flowers and leaves.  Depth of field will be explained and we’ll spend the majority of the time outdoors in the park together photographing all the treasures that Richmond Park has to offer.

Tell me a Story

Today’s workshop will focus on telling a story through the camera lens. We will introduce our students will to famous photographers such as Joel Meyerowitz and Robert Frank to inspire them to create their own stories. We will discuss different ways to create a compelling narrative and work alongside the students to help them put together their own story in photos. Camera mechanics and settings will be explained to help the teens make great images.

Summer Colour

Venue: Richmond Hill Hotel

Date: Monday 5th August 2019

Time: 10:00 – 15:00

Ages: 12-15

Fees: £60 (Optional additional £10 DSLR camera hire)

Today’s class will be focused on capturing the bright colours of summer through our viewfinders. We’ll spend time in Richmond Park, capturing the colours of nature and the wildlife in the park. Our students will learn how to use aperture creatively, blurring the backgrounds to make the flowers and natural details pop, and sharpening the backgrounds in their landscapes, capturing all the details.

We will also look at famous photographer’s colourful photos and discuss how we can use colour creatively in our photos. The second part of the class will be spent down by the river, capturing the colours of the wildlife and boats on the Thames. Our students will learn how to use shutter speed to stop the motion, capturing the birds sharply in the air, or splashing in the water. They will also learn how to use slow shutter speed creatively, capturing the movement of people, creating inspiring colourful photos of movement. Our students will finish the day with a great portfolio of colourful images, ready to go up on the wall at home!
