Photographing Action

Fast and slow shutter speeds will be discussed in today’s class. Our teens will learn how to capture a fast moving subject sharply, through using fast shutter speeds and focus. They will also learn how to pan and artistically blur their moving subjects, creating interesting and colourful images.  We will photograph the fast moving ducks and geese on the Thames, along with the cars and bicycles in Richmond. Tripods supplied to use during the class.

Capturing Spring

Venue: Richmond Hill Hotel

Date: Saturday 30th March 2019

Colour, budding flowers and lovely light will be captured in today’s photography class. Our teens will learn how to use their focus and camera settings creatively to capture spring in the amazing grounds of Richmond Park. We will cover aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Our students will learn how to over and under expose their images, making use of the spring sunlight, creating fun silhouettes and highlighting spring colours.  If we are lucky, we might even capture the deer! Our students will finish today’s class with a great set of images depicting spring.

Black and White Photography

Venue: Richmond Hill Hotel

Date: Saturday 27th April 2019

Our students will learn how to take great black and white photographs in camera capturing the beautiful landscapes of Richmond park and the Thames River. We will look at famous photographers work such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Mark Power and Vivien Maier for inspiration. Aperture and shutter speed will be explained and we’ll head outdoors together to capture serene black and white images together. Our students will learn how to take a well composed, interesting photograph using aperture and shutter speed creatively and have a great portfolio of images at the end.

Photographing in Richmond Park

Today’s class is focused on capturing the essence of Richmond Park. Our students will learn how to use focus & aperture creatively, in order to capture great landscape views of the park along with close up textures of the trees, flowers and leaves.  Depth of field will be explained and we’ll spend the majority of the time outdoors in the park together photographing all the treasures that Richmond Park has to offer.

Tell me a Story

Today’s workshop will focus on telling a story through the camera lens. We will introduce our students will to famous photographers such as Joel Meyerowitz and Robert Frank to inspire them to create their own stories. We will discuss different ways to create a compelling narrative and work alongside the students to help them put together their own story in photos. Camera mechanics and settings will be explained to help the teens make great images.
