Duke Of Edinburgh In-Person Photography Skills Courses

Our in-person Duke of Edinburgh course is a fantastic way for students to not only gain their DofE skills award, but to also expand their photography knowledge and know-how in a fun, creative and engaging way. The course runs over a 12-week period with 2 in-person workshops followed by a final Zoom workshop during this time you will be able to meet other like-minded students, who you will be able to discuss ideas, inspire and be inspired by! Our in-person DofE photography skills courses boast a huge list of benefits, such as immediate tuition and feedback from the professional teachers allowing you to immediately put into practice what you have learnt on the day! We have a fantastic list of venues where we hold our DofE skill workshops in London, Brighton and Surrey.


What does the course consist of?

  • The first group workshop introduces the students to the basics of camera photography and then takes the students through the initial 4 weeks of assignments , (2hrs 30mins)
  • The second group workshop takes the students through the following assignments and the skill needed to complete (2 hrs 30 mins)
  • The final workshop is held on Zoom to show the group everyones work and for the tutor to offer feedback and further tips. This is a great session for the students to come together and chat as a group about their photos. (1hr 30 mins)
  • You’re own login for 12 weeks of online video tuitorial modules containing all weekly assignments and tuition documents.
  • Work is reviewed regularly
  • Email and social media support throughout
  • Final assessment sign-off for DofE award

What skills are taught?

  • Learn how to become proficient in using a DSLR
  • Using filters, working with artificial and natural light
  • Learn composition
  • Choose a theme and build a photographic portfolio
  • Learn how to retouch images in photoshop
  • Learn creative ways to use shutter speed

The fee for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Photography Skills course outside of London is £150. London based DofE courses are £165.

*If for any reason the student needs to change venue there will be an additional £20 admin fee.

What if I have to cancel or change venue location?

If you would like to cancel your workshop or change venue locations please get in touch with us, we will always try our best to accommodate your needs! Please note that there will be a £20 admin fee for these scenarios.

What is the Sharp Shots Covid Policy?

  • Maximum class size of 15 students
  • All in-person workshops will run outdoors
  • Social distancing will be practised at all times
  • No cash payments
