Our Online Photoshop Course provides an opportunity for students to develop their own artistic style through 12 modules. Your teachers
Our Online Photoshop course is led by professional photographer and experienced teacher Lillie Spibey, alongside her colleague Gemma. Lillie is passionate about helping students grow in confidence and creativity. Since 2018, she has taught taken teenagers through the Duke of Edinburgh Award, provided private tuition, and hosted bespoke photography events. As a guest presenter for children’s BBC, Lillie brings a friendly, engaging approach, making learning both fun and accessible for young people and teens.

In this lesson you will learn the basics of Photoshop – how to resize & crop your photos, copying & pasting, the different file types and how to save your work. This gives you a strong base to begin learning how to use the more creative tools!

Next, we will explore how to use layers and why they’re super helpful with photo editing. You’ll learn how to add new layers, duplicate them, move layers around, adjust their opacity and how to use the paintbrush tool.

In this module, you’ll get to grips with the various exposure adjustments you can make in Photoshop. This includes brightness & contrast, levels and curves.

We’ll explore how to adjust the colours in your photos using hue and saturation, photo filters and colour balance. These can completely change the look of your photo and you can get super creative!

Black and white can really make your photos stand out. In this module, we’ll explore the three main ways you can turn your colour photo into B&W.

In this module, you’ll be introduced to a few of the selection tools within Photoshop. You’ll also learn how to duplicate your selections and how to add colour or exposure adjustments to them.

Here, we look at the three types of Lasso tools. With this module, you’ll start to get an even better understanding of the ways you can select parts of your image – and how to add and subtract parts of your selection.

The Spot Healing tool and the Clone Stamp tool are amazing for removing distractions or imperfections in your photos. We’ll cover how to use both and when to use each one.

Following on from Module 6, this module will teach you even more about selection tools. The Magic Wand and Quick Mask tools are two more ways you can edit specific parts of your photos. We’ll also look at erasing through layers. You’ll be a pro on selection tools after this!

Moving on, you’ll be introduced to masks and masking. Masks are a cool way to hide parts of an image or layer without permanently erasing them. We’ll show you how to use masks to create amazing levitation photos!

In this module, we’ll be looking at the Dodge and Burn tool. These tools act as a paintbrush to lighten or darken areas or subjects in your photos – you can even create cool vignettes!

In the final module of this course, we give you lots of fun and creative tasks to practice what you’ve learnt – double exposures, editing one part of your photo B&W and the other in colour and cool fantasy photos. Have fun with it!

How to I get Photoshop?
Firstly, follow this link to the Adobe Photoshop webpage or head straight to the payment plans page.
There are a few different ways you can download Photoshop so make sure you pick the one that’s right for you!
If you’re a student, you may be able to get a discounted membership on all Creative Cloud Apps (including Photoshop). You can also find this information through the Students and Teachers tab on the payment plans page.
Please note: For this online photo editing course, you only need access to Photoshop.
Do I need to have a DSLR camera?
You don’t have to have a DSLR camera to complete this course – you can use a smartphone. However, we do recommend using a camera if you have one! We use Nikon & Canon DSLR cameras on the course itself but we provide links to all camera manuals in the course material.
How long is the online photoshop course?
The course has 12 fun, inspirational learning modules that can be completed at your own pace. You can decide how quickly and slowly you’d like to move through the material.
Do I receive feedback on my images during the course?
We have a closed Facebook group for anyone enrolled onto this course. We encourage our students to post their edits and creations each time you complete a module so we can offer feedback on their work, answer any questions they might have and help them progress with their photo editing skills.
What is the layout of the course?

What do I receive at the end when I have completed the course?
Hurrah, well done! You will receive a certificate of completion and will have a wonderful portfolio of work to show off to friends and family. Parents – you will also now have a great photographer and photo editor in the family to record your family holidays and birthdays!
