Time: 10.30-13.00

Ages: 7-11

Today’s course will focus on capturing the summer sun through our camera lenses. Our students will learn how their camera makes a photograph enabling them to take great close ups of Tatton’s amazing flowers and and sharp wildlife images of the bees and butterflies. We will spend the majority of the class outdoors in the beautiful grounds capturing summer through our lenses together. We’ll find bright coloured flowers to photograph, learning how to blur our backgrounds, and take show stopping action shots of the wildlife and the birds & bugs in the park. Our students will put to use their new knowledge, using their camera settings and composition tips to create fun summer images to show off at home.

An historical estate with a neo-classical mansion, 50 acres of landscaped Gardens, 1000 acres of deer Park, a rare breed farm and medieval Old Hall.

For nearly 400 years the estate was the property of the Egerton family until it was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1958. It is now financed and maintained by Cheshire East Council. This is one of the most complete historic estates open to visitors. The early 19th-century Mansion sits amid a landscaped deer Park and is opulently decorated, providing a fine setting for the Egerton family’s extensive collections. The theme of Victorian grandeur extends into the garden with its glasshouses, formal gardens, Italian and Japanese gardens.

We will teach our students how to use their camera settings creatively, making wonderful images of the summer through their viewfinders. We will work with aperture to blur the backgrounds behind the summer blossoms and shutter speed to capture Tatton’s wildlife at it’s best.
